Bereavement Volunteer
Be a Loving Source of Support
Offering the only walk-in bereavement facility in the state of Wisconsin, Horizon serves over 100 individuals each month. With reliable & professional volunteers helping to staff the Grief Resource Center (GRC), our Bereavement Team can reach out to more individuals in the community who are experiencing loss & grief.
Volunteers are trained to listen with love, welcome walk-in guests, answer phones, and assist with projects. If comfortable, volunteers can also help manage the GRC Gift Shop and/or make bereavement phone calls to those who have lost a loved on Horizon Hospice. Additional training provided.
GRC Hours: Weekdays (12 - 6pm) & Saturdays (9am - 1pm). Our hope is to have the Grief Resource Center double-staffed weekdays, 12 - 6pm. It is to our benefit & your volunteer enjoyment that we host multiple volunteers per shift.
Bereavement Volunteers generously serve 1 - 3 hours each week, managing a schedule that works best for his/her availabilty. We expect volunteers to be self-sufficient, dependable & compassionate. To serve in this role, one must complete: an interview, application and a (3) hour orientation.
Please contact Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, Katy Corey, at 414-586-8341 / katy.corey@hhch.net if you are interested in serving as a Bereavement Volunteer.
